Introduction:
The accurate recording of minutes is an essential tool in business but is a skill that is often overlooked. The size of the meeting does not matter but the effectiveness of your notes does!

Course Details:

Meetings and minutes are inherent methods of communication in business. Minute taking is an extremely useful business accomplishment but minutes are really only effective if they’re accurate, so the skills of the minute taker are very important. The size of the meeting is irrelevant but the effectiveness of your notes is key! 

During this workshop you’ll learn about different types of meetings, minutes, writing styles and layout, working with the chair and clarifying action points. You’ll also learn how to improve your listening skills and identify what is relevant, so your minutes will be clear, useful and professional.


During this one day workshop you will learn about:

•Different types of meetings
•Writing styles and layout
•Working with the Chair and clarifying points
•Being selective

Meetings also create actions that need to be:

•Clear
•Properly minuted
•Effectively communicated

You will help improve your listening skills and identify what is relevant.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements.

Course Assessment:
Progress monitoring is informal with continuous assessment throughout the day.

The North Road campus in Poole is located close to Poole Park and the large Civic Centre roundabout (which is a large gyratory system with the municipal offices in the middle). When exiting this roundabout to access The College campus, you will need to take a left hand turn directly after the Sloop public house. You will be on the A35, Commercial Road.

If travelling by rail, the North Road campus is equidistant to both Parkstone station and Poole Town station (both approx 10 – 15 mins walking distance).
