Shards is a local organisation set up to develop an increasing opportunity for local artists to showcase and sell their work. This will be the first exhibition of it's kind to be held at the BIC, drawing together 50 or more local artists from the Dorset area, over a six week period. Because of the broad spectrum and variety of work, we feel the exhibition will have a wide appeal.

Rishi Ludgate & Linda Joyce have painted & sculpted a portrait of Bournemouth's hundredth Mayor Philip Stanley-Watts.  They have done this free of charge & are now asking for one or two people or companies who may be interested in donating a sum of money to the Mayors charities, so the portraits can go into the Town Hall with an engraved plaque stating that these works of art have been donated by them, or their companies.

Artists in residence during August will be as follows:-

Aug 9 - Rishi Ludgate and Rien Doorn
Aug 10 - Hariet Muller and Paul Mathews
Aug 11 - Rien Doorn and Ilona Skladzien
Aug 14 - Gail Glendinning
Aug 18 - Ilona Skladzien
Aug 20 - Paul Matthews
Aug 21 - Gail Glendinning
Aug 22 - Linda Joyce
Aug 23 - Alex Becker
Aug 24 - Alex Becker
Aug 25 - Alex Becker and Ilona Skladzien
Aug 20 - Linda Joyce and Alex Becker

The organiser of the event reserves the right to make alterations to the published programme.

Shards is very pleased to announce a double first for the hundredth Mayor of Bournemouth - Philip Stanley-Watts. He has been immortalised in two separate works of art and the official unveiling took place at the private view evening on the 18th of July 2013 at the BIC. He is believed to be the first Mayor in the town’s history to be the subject of both a painting and a sculpture. Some of the profits from the Exhibition will go to the Mayor’s charities.

The exhibition will also be holding a silent auction of art work, giving a lucky member of the public a chance to acquire a special piece of art, at a unique price.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to the event to win a free weekend at a leading Bournemouth Hotel.

Patrons with accessibility or special seating requirements are kindly requested to speak to one of our ticketing staff who will endeavour to provide the best and most appropriate service.
