Dorset Plane Pull 2016

Organisers are pleased to announce the 2016 Dorset Plane Pull returning for its eighth successful year. The Dorset Plane Pull, will take place on Monday 29th August (bank holiday) will be hosted by European Skybus at Bournemouth Airport from 10:00am. Organisers hope to smash their fundraising target this year and take the total raised to over £100,000.  As one of the county’s most unique fundraising event, over £84,000 for a variety of charities has been raised since its inception in 2009.

The 2016 event will support over 10 beneficiary charities and new to join this year are Bournemouth Hospital, the Isabel Baker Foundation, New Forest Night Stop and Meningitis UK.   The event has benefited a number of charities ranging from large national organisations such as the Motor Neurone Disease Association to local charities such as the Margaret Green Animal Rescue. .

Event founder and organiser  Richard Griffin says that National and local businesses have once again committed to support the day with the 35,000kg Boeing 737 being provided by local aviation firm European Skybus. Additional supporters of the event include Bliss Aviation, Bournemouth Airport, Wyvern Cargo and More Buses.

“Teams of over 20 will attempt to pull the 737 airliner a distance of 50 meters, some with the aim of taking the title of the ‘fastest pull’ currently claimed by reigning champions, team ‘Al of A Pull’ who have successfully held their title for the last three years with the fastest time being a mere 25.7 seconds,” said Richard Griffin

Already a total of 24 teams have confirmed their attendance. The day will provide fun for all taking part and their supporters, even for those not pulling. With entertainment, food, drinks, stalls and activities being provided, already confirmed in the entertainment line-up is a band, and a traditional Punch & Judy Show, balloon modelling and much more. Younger visitors will also be able a feel for sitting in the hot seat by getting up close to an ex fighter jet cockpit provided by Bournemouth Aviation Museum.
