Previously known as Bournemouth Tourism Awards – the BAPTAs have been created as Poole and Bournemouth Tourism join forces and as the awards expand to include those in the BH post code area. This year the awards are brought to you in association with Berendsen, and the aim is to involve more businesses and the people than ever before to celebrate the achievements of those in the tourism industry who contribute to provide a leading resort destination.
Said Mike Francis MBE the President of the new joint tourism management board, “The awards are a fantastic opportunity for recognising those people and businesses who have worked tirelessly to deliver a world class experience to the public. Poole and Bournemouth are now working in tandem and are collectively becoming a tourism ‘powerhouse’ with a combined annual business turnover of nearly £1 billion, attracting 11 million visitors per year and sustaining over 16,000 jobs in the industry.
Tourism is, without a doubt the lifeblood of the area – providing the very foundation on which most other business sectors are now flourishing.
These awards are the one and only time the Tourism Industry in Bournemouth and Poole get together, and celebrate and it’s always a sell-out event.”
Said Jackie Phillipson from ROUTEpr and BAPTAs, “This is the 12th anniversary of the awards, they offer every type of tourism business a chance to maximise their brand, it also encourages anyone entering the awards to take stock and look at their business objectively. The awards build credibility, profile and opportunity, they are a showcase and provide great PR value for those that reach the finals. The past two years have seen year on year growth for the awards and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever with the inclusion of businesses from Poole and the surrounding BH post code areas.
