Semi-finalists to be announced for independent BH Star Awards

Entries have closed for the inaugural BH Star Awards and the semi-finalists will be revealed at Shorefield Holidays’ Oakdene Forest Park, St Leonards, Dorset, on February 12.

Launched to honour and bring public recognition for varied achievements and positive contributions from those professionals working across the hospitality, tourism and retail sector, these new awards – featuring star-studded categories – not only recognise and celebrate the BH region’s best-loved tourism businesses, but also enhance hospitality and include the burgeoning quality retail sector.

A fabulous celebration of tourism, retail and hospitality at its finest, the Star Awards cover the BH postcode areas: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Wimborne, plus surrounding towns and villages.

The awards are sponsored by Shorefield Holidays (headline sponsor) in association with 1st Waste, A-One Insurance Group, Bournemouth Echo, Country Fare, County Foods, Elis, Goadsby, Meridian Lifts, Meridian Air Conditioning, Mploy Staffing Solutions, Nativ, Oceana Hotel Group, Templar Wines and Wave 105.

The semi-finals of the BH Star Awards are being hosted by Shorefield Holidays and the professionals will be celebrated with an early evening event. This follows the initial judging process which is carried out by representatives of independent trade, business executives and educators, entrepreneurs and innovators.

Simon Pitman, Shorefield’s group head of marketing and Title Sponsor said: “The awards represent a fantastic opportunity for both business and the community to recognise and celebrate excellence in our region. We are eager to discover who has reached the semi-finals and celebrate their successes before the gala finals.

“Tourism, hospitality and retail are key sectors in the BH postcode region and contribute significantly to our local economy. Businesses, people and innovation make this beautiful part of the south coast such a success, which in turn, maintains its popularity with locals and visitors.”

Jackie Phillipson, co-founder of ROUTEpr and Events, organiser and curator of the Star Awards, said: “The awards are NEW we have taken a fresh look at the area, the categories are varied and have a clear focus. They are also open to businesses, suppliers and to individuals and all you’ve got to do is enter to be in with the chance of being a winner.

Our judges are now working on the final judging processes, which includes mystery shopping and official visits whilst working on the staging of the glamorous and stunning gala ceremony, which will be the standout event for making regional connections.”

Semi-finalists and finalists are automatically eligible for Gold, Silver, or Bronze Star Award status. Winners will be announced at the Lighthouse, Poole, on March 14, during a glamour-filled, glitzy gala awards’ ceremony and tickets are now available via http://www.bhstars.co.uk
